Bob The Engineer

... bringing you Better Government Through Engineering

Hi there!

My name is Bob
Yes - I am a real person, that is my real name, and I am an engineer

What do engineers do?

Engineers solve problems and design stuff. Just about everything you use in your daily life was designed by engineers – your car, smart phone, espresso machine, the Internet, … you get the idea.
On behalf of engineers worldwide, you’re welcome!

What's different about engineering solutions?

Engineers live in the real world. Unlike academicians, theoreticians, scientists (the sort who discern fact by consensus of opinion), and especially unlike politicians – engineering solutions must work. The aircraft has to fly, the mobile phone has to communicate, the gun has to go bang.
If an engineer's solution doesn’t work, “Your’re fired!"

OK, so what's engineering got to do with government?

You gotta win, so you got all these Democrat lawyers, and you got all these Republican lawyers and their sides want to win. We need to get rid of that. What we need to start thinking about is, how do we solve problems?
Dr. Benjamin Carson
In this era wherein most elected officials no longer serve We the People, we see politicians create “solutions” that serve only themselves (for greed & political power), or their political parties (for power), or to serve government itself – for control & even more power.
Or worse, counterfeit problems are cooked up for the express purpose of fabricating self-serving "solutions." To mimic one of American journalist David Brinkley's quotes [2] — If there is no crisis, we give you one with the same emphasis as if there were.
That's why I'm here – to present a new way of thinking about real solutions to real governmental problems.
I give you … Government Engineering.

Problems Solved!

Requirements to qualify as Bob's Government Engineering solution

Engineering Boundary Conditions:

Must Work

If it doesn't work - it's not a solution.

Engineering solutions must achieve design goals.

Be realistic

Solutions must be practical, producable, robust, and reliable.

The simplest solution is often the best.

Satisfy the customer

Who is the customer? That's us! We the People pay for and receive government services.

Be cost effective

As the customer, we demand good value, free of waste and fraud.

Government Boundary Conditions:

Constitutional

Solutions must be legal, especially including compliance with the Constitution of the U.S.

Freedom

Freedom is the cornerstone foundation of the United States.

Solutions will not infringe on either individual freedom or freedoms left to the states.

Equality

Like Freedom, Equality is a founding principle of the United States.

Hint: Any "solution" that divides people into groups (race, ethnicity, religion, gender, political conviction), by definition, is promoting inequality.

Political Neutrality

Engineering solutions are politically neutral.

Communicating with Clarity

Bob The Engineer understands the need for clarity in communication. Communication in the engineering world is as precise as it is critical. Product and process specifications are described in numeric, scientific terms that are unambiguous. Everybody’s on the same page.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said when dealing with politicians, government, and political issues, where bafflegab and ambiguity are the lifeblood of concealing true motive.

For these reasons, Bob The Engineer provides the following references for disambiguation of terminology as well as clues to spotting political manipulation – If not outright dirty tricks.

Glossentary

Glossary-Commentary – A glossary with instructive commentary.

Words have meaning. As an engineer, Bob does his best to use terminology that is clear, correct and accurate. Refer to the Glossentary for clarification of words/phrases not readily discernable.
